Used it right when I got it. Worked very well so far. Getting the belt to stay in line takes patience
I bought this expensive unit 6 months ago and have only occasionally used it. Today it won't work at all, cord is fine, brushes are fine, not sure what's wrong, but now it's a $250 paper weight. Not happy.
I definitely recommend this vendor for items of this type. The vendors day of delivery was right on. I was very satisfired with the sander. The sander is quite substantial and it does most of the work for you. The unit works flawless and I am very happy with the variable speed. It gives you more control on how fast and what type of material you are sanding. Its weight is all that is needed for the unit to proform adequately. I will check with this vendor before any further purchases.
I am a woodworker and purchased this Bosch 4x24 sander 1276DVS to replace a broken 3x24 Porter Cable "locomotive" style belt sander for general bench sanding of millwork etc. The dust bag is in an awkward position and the motor fan blows directly on my left hand which I find moderately irritating. It also picks up dust well.
I like the Bosch very much and it has become my favorite to use. I sand left and right handed to reduce fatigue. I have also used Makita, Milwalkee and other sanders.
Two things I do not like about the Bosch sander are the placement of the exhaust for the motor fan and the dust bag placement. I was not sure about going to the 4" wide belt but do not regret the decision. It is a hefty machine and is very stable due to the nice flat platen.
The problem occurs when sanding right handed (right hand on trigger, left hand on front handle). This would not have prevented me from buying this sander had I known about it before purchasing.
This is the best sander you can get. The belt lasts a long time. The belt design works best. The circles, triangles, and squares all wear off or come loss and are really expensive to replace. The sander is also light weight and has a dustbag to catch all the wood particles. Very convenient.
